This mission focuses on reaching out to the towns of Anahawan, Pintuyan, Macrohon, and Maasin in Southern Leyte, Philippines.

These communities face unique challenges, primarily due to their remote locations, far from advanced medical facilities like those found in Tacloban City. Compounded by the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette and other previous typhoons, the residents of Anahawan, Pintuyan, and Macrohon are in municipalities that have limited access to medical care, where doctors and essential medicines are scarce.

Our choice of these locations is strategic, as they are not only in dire need of medical assistance but are also geographically close to neighboring municipalities with similar healthcare needs and impoverished conditions.

In addition to delivering vital medical services, this mission serves as a platform for training Omegan residents in project management and community engagement. Participants will gain hands-on experience in event and project coordination, witness the social preparations required for such initiatives, and engage in post-activity evaluations to enhance future missions.

Given the region’s vulnerability to typhoons, our organization’s previous experience in disaster response will play a crucial role in refining our approach to conducting Medical Missions. Through the Southern Leyte Medical Mission Caravan, we aim to strengthen our commitment to providing essential healthcare services and fostering community development in Eastern Visayas. Your support and involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Transportation and Lodging
The medical and dental mission will be conducted as a caravan where a team of doctors and volunteers will be traveling from Anahawan/Pintuyan to Macrohon one day after another, while the surgical mission will be happening simultaneously in Maasin for two days. Transportation from the Tacloban airport to the team’s first stop and between municipalities will be arranged and provided by TOM International. Hotel accommodations for all 3 municipalities will also be arranged and provided by TOM International.
